Tomorrow night I'll be heading "home" for my High School reunion. 25 years.  [sm_shock] [sm_shock]

I've never been to a high school reunion, so I'm imagining what I've seen in cheesy sitcoms and movies.

There is some truth to the cliches. I went to my 10 year and the only reason I'm going to this one is the fact I had nothing else planned this weekend and I heard that a couple of friends from back in the day are going to make it back.

The only one I went to was my 5.  Last year was my 20.  Kinda wanted to go, but the timing just didn't work out.

My parents have lived in their current house since I was 2.  Their phone number has remained unchanged -- and listed -- since I was maybe 12.  I have never received a notice or invitation to my high school reunions (graduated 1981).  If I went to one, I fear it'd turn into a Carrie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrie_(film)) kinda thing.


Related note: this thread got me curious, so I googled my two high-school girlfriends.  I already knew one had gone to med school and the other to law school.  Let's just say that the years have not been kind to the lawyer.

FWIW, I never received an "official" invite. They use www.classmates.com to set it up.

Which is nice but if you haven't gotten word to sign up on this site you are out of luck.

I skipped my 20-year a couple of years back, though got a couple of calls at 3:30 in the morning from people who had drunk too much just the right amount, beating me up for not being there.

No. Um, well, ordinarily when you make glue first you need to thermoset your resin and then after it cools you have to mix in an epoxide, which is really just a fancy-schmancy name for any simple oxygenated adhesive, right? And then I thought maybe, just maybe, you could raise the viscosity by adding a complex glucose derivative during the emulsification process and it turns out I was right.

5 year reunion? LOL
Most of the kids from my HS would have still been in the 5th year of their 7 year college plan.

I went to my 10 year, and everybody acted exactly the same but were just balder and fatter. I figured there's really no reason to go the 20th.

For some reason I went to the 5 year reunion. It was stupid. Though I did get invited to go to the titty bar by a guy who inexplicably wanted to fight me all through jr. high and high school. I declined.

For our 10 year, a friend who remains close had talked me into attending (for Uisce's benefit: it was being held at the classiest of bars in the greater Salt Lake area- Totems) but then decided at the last minute she didn't want to go, so we went and had sushi instead. Apparently the reunion was everything I expected it to be and I was not sorry I missed it.

20 year reunion will be in 2012. I suspect I will skip it. But who knows? The people from high school who I don't already know how to get a hold of if I so desire might suddenly become vastly more important to me than they are now.

My 10 year is this fall.  We didn't have a 5(WTF?) year reunion.

I won't be attending.  Not going to waste a weekend with a sitter by spending it with those assclowns.  I still talk to my friends that I give a *feces* about. 

I went to my 10th and then my 20th (two years ago).  It's always interesting to see how some of your classmates are doing?  It's pretty sad to find out about those who passed away.
