Title: [NSFW] [SPOILERS] [RANT] [LOUD NOISES] What's your Thanksgiving day obligation?
Post by: spacey on November 25, 2008, 11:57:58 AM
We're going to my parents' place. Mom's doing most of it, but I've been asked to make mashed potatoes. If you ask Laura, though, I might have a stronger obligation to option 6. I'm not sure why she wants to break with the great American holiday tradition of mistakes being made and apologies being in order, but I guess I'll see what I can do to accommodate both obligations. The mashed potatoes, of course, being higher on my priority list if I have to choose one over the other.

6.   [sm_thankyou]

BIL's place.  I'm sure we'll be bringing something or another.  Including the beer.  Cheap *fudge*ers.

We're hosting my parents and my brother and his wife. We're cooking the bird, potatoes and stuffing. They're bringing some side dishes and dessert. Should be fairly painless.

We are going to my in-laws about 45 minutes away.  My parents will be there as well.  My brother is still in Europe being a roady for Joe Bonamassa so it will be the first time he isn't around.  I'll be drinking and watching football.  Last week was the suckiest bunch of suck evar so I'll be drinking to try and forget about it.  Woopty *goshdarn* do thanksgiving.

We're hosting both sets of parents.  So to "Cook the whole damn meal and clean up afterward", add cleaning and entertaining.  Oh, and trying to work -- my deadlines don't give a *feces* about holidays.

I am making wings, drinking beer, and watching football.  My wife, her sister and a friend are doing the "Thanksgiving" thing.  I am having wings, beer, and football. (Option 6 will come into play at some point I'm sure)

Going to a cousin's house again to spend it with an aunt and uncle and other cousins, and their small children.  They have been gracious enough to invite me there ever since my parents passed away, so I never miss it.

I am bringing an appetizer, and naturally..... booze  :D

Six for me, too.  MIL's house and the SIL doesn't drink anymore, so I have to behave myself. :'(

Just me and Sal.

C'mon up.  There's room for two more.

My brother (who is on disability and hasn't worked in several years, likes to go to a resort in Wisconsin Dells over Thanksgiving.  So this year, we're driving 7 hours to go to a resort and spending $400 to stay in a resort in *goshdarn* Wisconsin.  For another 4 hours, we could be in Gulf Shores  Or we could stay home and I could play golf.

I'm really not in a mood to spend money right now, but this is what my family wants to do.

I'll probably help my BIL hook up his new Bluray player and watch Wall-e. Bringing a side dish and some booze for me.

Your just mad/jealous because his TV is bigger than yours.  [sm_shock] Which by the way, was his present to himself for quitting smoking.

If he's a hard core smoker, surely that's an investment that paid itself off in less than 1 year.

We've been adopted by some friends a couple of miles down the road and have gone their 3 of the last 4 years.  This year will be no exception.  They invite us to joint them, their kids and grand kids, siblings, ex-wife,....  Always a good time.
