In these films, Poitier triumphs through yeoman service to his white benefactors. 'To Sir With Love' is her favorite movie, which is absolute proof that she is indeed a she. Also, I just find the phrase: 'Magic Negro' amusing, although the concept behind the phrase is illuminating. I guess my bewilderment over modern usage of the term "Negro" is unrelated to the context of the article.
