Might have been a foregone conclusion to some.

Many of our polygamists are pretty tame.  Go about their business and you might not even know other than the way the women dress/appear.  Groups like Tapestry might have better (and differing) insight but from my perspective they're mostly normal people with a, well, shall we say, quirk.   ;D

But Jeffs is an absolute freak.  This case wasn't really about polygamy.  It was about incest and rape and abuse and control and power and delusions of grandeur.   Good riddance.  Hopefully that community will dissolve (for now anyway, the UT-AZ state line has a whackjob magnet buried beneath it.)

I grew up and attended school with a number of polygamists. Most of them, you'd have no idea. The Hilldale/Colorado City polygs are a whole different can of crazy, though. Like U.B. says, this wasn't really about polygamy.

My stance has always been that as long as everyone is of legal age of consent, are not 1st cousins or closer, and can actually afford that chosen lifestyle and the number of progeny produced without abusing welfare/medicaid/etc, I really don't care if you want to have 2 wives or 15 of them. Personally, one is more than enough for me.
