Title: Lamest Gift You GAVE This Christmas
Post by: Clive on December 29, 2007, 11:35:05 AM
OK, threads abound (somewhere) regarding best gifts.  Let's turn it around a little and do what we do when we do what we do ... what's the gift you gave this holiday season that seems to have gone over the worst?

I'd love to give my answer, but the missus and I still haven't done our gift exchange yet.  Probably tonight ...

Or will you not know it's lame until she tells you?

Karen's idea.  Maddie opened it and actually said (with a grimaced scowl) "What the?  Who would give me this?"

LOL  We both laughed about it later.  The underwear got a better reception.

Bomb-oh!

Language your strong point?

Gib's friend: Forget her, I hear she only likes intellectuals
Gib: So? I'm intellectual and stuff.
Gib's friend: You're flunking English. That's your mother tongue, and stuff.

I would have to say the books the boys got. Kind of a " oh, books. Nice." and they sit where they laid them.

I only give what they ask for part of the charm of not liking this time of year.

Sometime around 12/1 of every year you can hear me yelling "Lists people, I need freaking lists!".

Merry Christmas.

Sometime around 12/1 of every year you can hear me yelling "Lists people, I need **** lists!".

Merry Christmas.

This is the first year in ages that my aunt didn't ask me for a list.  (It was rather nice not having to come up with something like that. :D)

my MIL called one day and asked what did my wife want?
Me:I don't know?
Mil: what do you mean you don't know? She doesn't want anything?
me: no
mil: so she didn't say anything?
me: no. So what do you want?
mil: nothing.
me: you don't want anything?
mil: correct.
Me: huh. Go figure.

Would you have preferred "Mr. Rogers" as Uisce referred to you? ;)

Well, I'm sure stroh would wants his daughter to be a "nice young woman" when she grows up, but you were referring to yourself so my following statement would be referring to you.  Obviously, the statement would have to be slightly altered in reference to when Madolyn is older. ;D

We kept our gifts pretty minimal this year, so most of them were pretty well received. However...I drew my brother in the family gift exchange and about a month ago he was really amped up about adding a trunk to his motorcycle, so I thought I'd be a genius and buy the mounting brackets for quick release hardware. The day after I bought the stuff and had it wrapped, he announced that he'd changed his mind on the whole thing because "those mounting brackets look *goshdarn* ugly." He got them anyway. *fudge*er.
