It's part of this post Boomer mentality that all the young children that participate in sports are to be considered winners. We don't like having our children face the possibility of losing at a sport. All the teams get first place trophies because everyone that plays is a winner! You can imagine how damaging it is to those poor young men to not get invited to the tournament. I say the NBA and MLB are teh worst. Kinda like I argued at teh other joint about re-doing NFL overtime. OTOH, those meet your other criteria as well: 'Well, it's just NO FAIR that the nonentity in 10th place has no shot to win the championship as the season winds down!' |
