Wow, that Sonic cluster is striking.

Funny coincidence. I've never eaten at a Sonic before.  There aren't many around here.  But I have plans to meet up at one this weekend. [sm_fingersx]

sonic gives me the rrhea every time, so I'd advise against that

lol.  Sonic is going to be a planned lunch stop in the middle of a road trip.  Should be interesting.

You don't have Sonic, but you have In-N-Out.

You win. That said, Sonic does kick ass. They just opened one around here somewhere.

Are the Burgers any good at Sonic?

How do they compare?

Other than Filthy Rons, In-N-Out Burger is my only other point of comparison.

Never been.

Wonder why there was no love for White Castle or Krystal.

Here's the thing:

Sonic doesn't have JUST burgers. It's more like a Dairy Queen on steroids.

Sonic is slowly invading here.  Looks like they have them in Hayward, Gilroy and Vallejo.

My only reference to White Castle was from a dodgy Harold and Kumar movie...

It would be interesting to know if they do 'Full On' Sonic, or some bastardized drivethrough only.

Full on is where you pull into a carport like deal, give your order over a microphone, and they bring it out to you.

No roller skates as I recall, but it's been a loooong time.

Before I left Minnesota they opened the first one.  A real one like you say.  Apparently the buzz was so great the traffic to get into this joint shut the whole city (suburb) down.  LMAO  Gotta get the newest novelty.

Same thing happened when they opened the Krispy Kreme (different part of town)  They had to have cops come in on overtime to handle the traffic.

Now it's closed and they opened a Vitaman Shoppe whatever the hell that is in the building.  LOL  Oh the irony.

In reviewing the attached map I can confidently say I've had dining experiences at:

* Filthy Ron's,
* Burger King (known as Hungry Jacks here),
* Wendys (no longer here)

I'm in two minds as to whether it's a good or bad thing to have such a variety of Burger establishments. I do like the ability to go in to a Fish and Chip shop here and buy a "Burger with the Lot, which by and large is the most important offering of any good Fish and Chip shop.

A quality Burger with the Lot is expected to have the following:

Pattie,
Cheese,
Onion,
Tomato,
Bacon,
Pineapple,
Beetroot; and
a Fried Egg.

 ;D

It's also expected to be a decent size.

LOL  Hungry Jack's.  Why don't they call it Burger King?

You had me to bacon.  What the *fudge* is beetroot?  I would have to order one with "If you put a LOT of that *feces* on my burger......"

Having said that, I wish there was a good fish and chips place here.

There was this one joint back home that did fish and all you could eat on Fridays.  I miss that place.

I likes me some fish.

There's a fantastic fish and chips place run by a nice Korean couple a few miles from my house. Unlike most fish and chips places, this place gives you a choice of a bunch of different kinds of fish. The sole is so awesome, I haven't tried any other type of fish there.

Interesting.  If you go to the 2nd map in that link you see Hardee's dominates Appalachia, Mississippi/'bama, and the Ozarks

Meth + Hardee's roast beef = perfect day

Not sure if you've been to any of these but I've eaten at the Cypress location a number of times. Fantastic.

Possibly for the same reason that Corona beer is not called Corona in Spain.

Actually, when "Burger King" first decided to launch in Australia, they discovered that there was already a business trading here as Burger King. In fact it was some Greek guy who'd opened a Fish & Chip shop in the late 70's.

The only places in Australia that Burger King can trade as "Burger King" and not "Hungry Jacks" are the Major Airports as they're considered as "International Territory" or something like that.

Speaking of the King, this one near me is having special--2 Whoppers for $3.50. I ate them both.  [sm_anon]

nice!

Back when they were having a $1 whopper promotion several years ago, I would live on two whoppers/day as my daily intake.  Instead of breakfast, lunch and dinner, I would have Early Whopper and Late Whopper, spaced out to minimize feelings of hunger.

I tried bankrupting Mack Donald's when they came out with the Big-N-Tasty on the Dollar Menu.

You notice it didn't stay on there for long.

Oh, and some idiot back home that flunked out of accounting and ad agency school ran a deal where they would sell the Quarter Pounder with Cheese for the price in U.S. cents for the previous days high temperature.

In February.  LMAO!  *fudge*.  I walked in with quarters and dimes and left with bags of 'em .

Oh I will indeed have that coronary angio with plasty and stenting someday.
