Title: [Politics/Religion] New York...
Post by: gleek on June 24, 2011, 09:46:54 PM
...catches the ghey (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/24/new-york-gay-marriage-bil_n_884439.html#s298092&title=President_Barack_Obama).

BTW, when did Barry change his position on DOMA?

Quote
The President has long believed that gay and lesbian couples deserve the same rights and legal protections as straight couples. That's why he has called for repeal of the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act" and determined that his Administration would no longer defend the constitutionality of DOMA in the courts. The states should determine for themselves how best to uphold the rights of their own citizens. The process in New York worked just as it should.

I guess HuffPo readers aren't buying this statement. They ranked the importance of his statement 7 out of 9.

He decided not to defend it in court anymore earlier this year, which resulted in much hilarity as the GOP  hired a law firm to defend it and then the law firm quit.
