This has been the rumor for at least the last year if not two.

I'll say this.  As much as I'm smitten with Apple stuff lately a touch tablet doesn't really do much for me.

And after waiting two years for a non announcement of one coming out that everyone knows just has to.........it better blow my *feces* off.

There's a strong chance I'll end up camping out for one in March or whenever it ends up launching.  Mainly because I want to make sure my apps work on it properly (existing iphone ones and any new tablet-specific ones).

I can see your interest in it for that reason. 

I have only 2 apps on my phone right now.  I haven't found anything I really need my phone to do more than it does right now.  I realize the irony/waste but I like it and it works for me.  So,

It really does nothing for me.

If it is more of a computer, but at the same time less of one because it runs on /relies on apps.  I still don't see it's value for me.

But I'm pretty dense.  So who knows.

For me the Mac Book Air was brilliant.  We love ours.  In fact Karen has taken complete ownership of it.  When I first saw it, I said I gots to get me one of dem.  Love it.

Will be interesting to see what comes out.

I'm also old enough to remember when the Newton.

I use a regular MacBook mainly, but I'm kind of indifferent toward OSs.  At various times in the past I've been a Linux, Windows, or Mac guy, so now I don't really care.

The price of the tablet will be interesting. I've been hearing between $599-799 depending on configuration.

Anyone know how big this thing is going to be? AFAIC, if a device is too big to fit in my pocket, it's going to be a PITA to carry around regardless of its form factor. I'd just as soon get something more versatile like this (http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1359). no real surprises.  looks super thin.  doesn't multitask.

I wish they would take their cinema display side, mix it with their touch technology and their imac slim all in one design and create an imac - ipad/touch type - 55 or 60 in. tv/computer/ all in one multi-media device that supports Blow-Ray that I could hang on the wall.

The mother lode.  Big plasma tv that hangs on the wall, all of the functionality of the mac, touch screen interface etc.

That I would wait in line for.

These things are only making sense for one person I know.  He's a big reader, has taken a job and moved overseas, travels internationally on a constant basis.  He has divorced his wife and his 3 kids are basically out of the nest.  He is unfettered and revels in his unfetteredness.

I'm surprised they went with that.  A wiki article looked like they had islate pretty much locked up, and I saw a news video talking about how Apple hadn't even acquired the rights to ipad.com.
