Title: Trivia

Two rules:

1)  No Googling
2)  Question must be reasonably mainstream.

I'll kick it off with...

Name the well-known musician who a childhood friend of David Bowie

Nope. It occurs to me, though, that this is probably too tough for anyone who's not a pretty big Bowie fan. I was just sorta blinded by the headlights, I didn't really think Frampton was right. If no one guesses it in the next couple of minutes, I'll come up with something else.

How far (in degrees) does a bowling pin have to tilt to fall?

Would it be cheating to look up the dimensions of a bowling pin?

OK, I looked up the dimensions, but this (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/kennmelvin/tPins.Htm) is the best info I could find. It doesn't give the dimensions at the base, but I'll guess that it's 3 inches wide.

Based on that info, I will guess that it's around 11-12 degrees.

Hmmm...According to this article, a bowling pin needs 10 degrees of tilt in order to topple.

http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761575956/Bowling.html

Quote
Pins are generally made of wood and plastic, and weigh between 1.53 kg and 1.64 kg (3 lb 6 oz and 3 lb 10 oz). Each pin is 38.1 cm (15 in) tall. Pins have a narrow neck that gradually widens to a diameter of 12 cm (4.75 in) at the widest point, called the belly. The pin then tapers to a base 5.7 cm (2.25 in) in diameter. This design causes the pin to fall if tilted 10 degrees.

If I may be so bold and join in the reindeer games....

For those of you who have heard of the Birthday paradox please allow the others a chance.

If you have 23 randomly chosen people in a room, what are the odds that 2 of them share a birthday*?

For extra credit, now you have 60 randomly chosen people in a room. What are the odds?

*not the same year, just the day

This looks like fun, but it should probably be in another thread for puzzles/riddles since it's not really trivia. How 'bout it? I might have a puzzle or two to contribute.
