Title: [P & R perhaps] Intel is gouging us! Post by: Fuzzy on October 16, 2007, 05:12:16 PM Since they are the 800 pound gorilla in my industry I noticed their Q3 earnings today. And it made me chuckle when people talk about how the oil companies are screwing everyone on their way to record profits:
Bottom line: $1.86 billion, which is 43 percent higher than the $1.3 billion they earned in Q3 last year. Revenues for the period were $10.09 billion, a 15 percent jump from the $8.74 billion in sales rung up last year. I'm too tired to look it up but if memory serves their net income percentage is almost twice Exxon's*. But you won't see Intel leading the news or making water cooler headlines tomorrow with their "obscene" profits. I'm also a bit divided because they are my division's #1 customer which is good for us. And they are a bellwether for semiconductors which is good for our stock. But they also know this and have no self-esteem issues when dealing with their suppliers. ;) Ah hell, sometimes they are the biggest pricks imaginable. And even so, I've meet some good people there and admire what they have accomplished through the years. *I know there are distinct differences between the companies, industries and products they provide. Just have always found comparisons like this interesting. Title: Re: [P & R perhaps] Intel is gouging us! Post by: Aske on October 16, 2007, 05:21:57 PM why do you hate 'merka?
