it's weird, if its just offsides (and not unwaxturbated to the QB)  its a live play, but they usually just handoff or throw a quick dump.  almost as if they don't know that  whether it's a false start or an offsides an interception wouldn't matter!

I seem to remember the whistle blows when the defender is "unimpeded" to the QB on offsides. That one was put in the fairly recent past (I think??)
