Title: Festival of the Boot
Post by: twoiron on September 26, 2010, 01:48:28 PM
Wow, the AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and St Kilda ends in a draw: 68 - 68.

No extra time so we have to come back and do it all over again next weekend....

Seriously? They just keep replaying the game until somebody wins?

That's awesome!

It's only the third time in history that it's ever happened, the last time being 1977.

Back then there were no corporate dollars involved so there was no issue with a "replay".

Now there is.

The AFL Commission do need to put in contingency, however for the past 150 years or so, it's been known that in the Grand Final there's no extra time: - it will be changed for the "Replay" though, such that if there is a tie after regular time they will go into extra time.

Are you serious? Somebody couldn't kick the ball through any one of the three sets of gigantic goalposts to win the game?
