Title: Uggh, hangover today.
Post by: MFAWG on October 24, 2007, 08:44:11 AM
PBR and Bud Ice around the pool last night...

Of course, the pool in question had no water in it the way god intended.;D

Something about PBR. I don't know what it is, but I get the worst hangovers from it.

I stayed away from the Bud Ice, but the pierced eyebrow 20 somethings seem to love that *feces*.

The old guys stick with PBR, which may be a hidden demographic for them.

I love PBR. It's likely just a throwback to the early '90s (yeah, I know) when you could rate a bar's punk status by whether they served the stuff. If it was on tap, you knew you were in "*fudge* it" heaven. All the me-too "grunge scene" kids with greasy hair and tattered flannel were obsessed with microbrews, particularly those from the PacNW, you know the birthplace of that was good and holy in the 90s. PBR was reserved for hardcore kids who would have paid any amount of money to watch Ian MacKaye beat the *feces* out of Eddie Vedder, and old dudes who rode Harleys and never washed their jeans.

Or it could be that it's $6 for a 12 pack and it's way better than anything coming out of AB or Coors (not terribly difficult, I realize).

I like PBR too.  Now Bud Ice on the other end [sm_disgust]

'Stop-N-Robbit' pricing last night:

3.99 a sixpack for 16 oz PBR, although I opted for .99 cent 24 ozers.

BudIce was 5.99 for a 12 pack, a pretty good buy for the young folks.

Herbage seemed to be cross generational, but 'I'll pass' isn't met with the same kind of disbelieving stare it used to be, which is a good thing.

The cops broke the whole thing up about 9:30, although I'll give 'em credit in that we were in a public park (read 'Closes at Dusk') with the pool lit up with contractor lights for about an hour or more. No hassles, just told us to shut it down.

Good fun had by all.

Alas, I no longer bend that way. I can still grab slob, I just may not come out of it.  ;D

Not that anybody cares, but 'slob' is through the knees.

The cool kids all frontside grab 'Tuck Knee' also called 'Indy'.

In my day it was Old Milwaukee.

They used to serve Old Milwaukie (and ONLY Old Milwaukie) on tap at a certain topless establishment in Fayetteville, NC that was infamous both for it's seediness and the unattractiveness of it's 'entertainers'.

A fine place it was, although I'm damned if I can remember the name of it off the top of my head...

I also remember when you could get a case of returnables for $4.95.

Good times.

This pic bugs me. It's a publicity still for Lords Of Dogtown. The wheels and trucks are all wrong for the era. There's a whole backstory to why there's no logo on the board.

Here's the real Jay Adams in the real 1976:

Sorry.  It's a cool pic and all, but it's like a forged Picasso. The real deal was way cooler, if not as well behaved or photogenic enough for Hollywood.

Sig. is from a Gin Blossoms song,(taken out of context but) always thought it described me pretty well.  ;D

Stoh forgot to mention that the Gin Blossoms got their name from a rosy, swollen skin condition of the nose that afflicts those who engage in excessive drinking, which happens to be one of the favorite subjects that said group used to sing about. The author of that line in Stroh's sig had such a bad drinking problem, he had to be fired from the group before the release of the hit album and song on which said line actually appears. He ended up committing suicide about a year after the album was released.

Check out gleek, goin' all VH1 on it!

I didn't bring it up, because I would have considered it superfluous bull*feces*, had I known it.  Which I didn't, 'til gleek went all Behind The Music on it, now I do, so I don't.

Seamus worked 14 hours yesterday. Seamus wishes he could be at the concrete pond with MFAWG drinking pbr and getting hassled by the man. Seamus has concentrated his efforts for a possible aerial attack on phileokrop*fudger*.

Serious about that watchin' fawg shred though, imagine a man his age tearin' up the board, he's old.

'The Man' actually didn't hassle us a bit. They drove by at least a half a dozen times after we set the lights up, and one just rolled into the lot at 9:30 and told us firmly but quite nicely that it was time to pack it up.

Of course, it's not like we're  there with open beer all over the place and ghetto blaster's full throttle.

Hey, this is a thread about drinking and hangovers, right?

And I mentioned the bit about the song writer committing suicide because Jules said that the quote seemed a "bit down".

BTW, we hope you don't take any inspiration from that song writer as UB implored here (http://www.golfhos.com/topic-5178.html).
