Title: AAA Auto Insurance *goshdarn* Sucks!
Post by: gleek on July 31, 2007, 10:35:51 AM
A hit-and-run isn't covered by uninsured motorist coverage in California.

Let me rephrase that. Uninsured motorist coverage doesn't cover the deductible in hit-and-run accidents.

USAA applied the comprehensive deductible ... after we asked.

Weird timing.  I'm currently in the process of switching from AAA to State Farm for car insurance.

No way to tell whether the person that did the hit and run has insurance right?

Can't you tell I work for an insurance company.

I work for an insurance company, and while I don't sell property and casualty insurance, I AM having some ethics issues with my job. Though the company preaches ethics, I find that not exposing everything, totally, is the way to be most successful. For me, total discolsure is the ONLY way to go.
Hence my apprehension.I DON'T feel as I am a leech, but without total disclosure, I feel that a client may be persuaded without ALL the facts. I may soon find that this is not the job for me.

I'm a property claims handler and I'm the salt of the earth, honest as they come.  Just ask me.  I'll tell you so.

Now, those auto insurance guys, they're a whole 'nuther story... ;)

And don't even get me started on agents and claims lawyers. [sm_shock]

Sorry to hear of your situation gleek....

The Un-insured motorist coverage is pretty much the same World Wide, unless you can prove the identity of the Third Party, and that they were at fault you get lumped with the excess/deductible.

BFBoy... if you want to know about disclosure you should work for an Australian Insurance Company.  We're subject to some fairly intensive requirements in respect to disclosure and compliance [sm_devil]

This applies to Agents/Brokers and any employee who is "Market Facing". ;)

Anywho I'll leave it at that.... Cheers

If you post on this board and you're not an insurance guy please raise your hand.

Good luck gleek.  Insurance issues suck.

Don't get me wrong. I would never think of not disclosing everything. And, while the Company I work for talks about ethics, the impression I get, from the meetings I attend, is that I am too concerned with telling the client ALL the potential risks. Just the other day, an agent said to me, 'I realize you are a very ethical person, but sometimes you tell the client too much. You don't have to give them all the facts all the time'.
This is what makes me think that this isn't the job for me. I don't think that there is any amount of gain, I could receive, that would make it ok to compromise my integrity.

I know how you feel... better to completley inform your client of all the risks and have them make a better decision than end up with unwanted claims and needless litigation...
