December 3, 2008 - 9:59AM Motorists have been warned to take care in northern Victoria where a locust plague is expected to blanket the area over coming weeks. Australian Plague Locusts have emerged at almost 600 locations on both sides of the New South Wales border, the Department of Primary Industries said. Moira and Strathbogie shires, in north-east and central Victoria, are the most recent areas hit, with 20 unconfirmed sightings in the past 24 hours. Warmer weather in the next few days is expected to increased the insects' migration into the state. The DPI will post field teams on roadsides to help motorists who get into trouble. Residents have also been asked to lookout for locust swarms and egg laying. The APL is a native insect that occurs in swarms and causes significant damage to agricultural production, parks, golf courses and vehicles. Title: Re: omg! Ned Flanders was right...
