Okay, I'm lifting my P&R boycott briefly, though hopefully I'll not say anything too controversial:

To me the fact that neither the executive nor the legislative branch of government can manage to get even a measly 1 out of 3 Americans to say they're satisfied with the job being done by either is pretty telling. Assuming those who approve of the general wingnuttery of either branch represent the wingnuts in the respective parties represented, it indicates that we are much more a country of moderates than the usual cadre of talk radio hosts would have us believe. Anyone with any intellectual honesty would have to recognize that this doesn't fit into the modern American "libs vs patriots" political language. The total inability to meet in the middle appears, to me at least, to be turning the country off.

Unless 70%+ of the country is 'merka hatin' libs, disapproving of The Decider is no longer just a lib's game. As demonstrated by the congress's 11% approval rating, one obviously need not love all democrats to dislike any given republican, or vice versa. Most of us are less concerned with the letter after their names than their ability to effectively get the important *feces* dealt with, while not getting bogged down in the silliness. Sadly it's the silliness that gets the majority of the effort focused on it because as it turns out the important *feces* is much harder to sort out than simply remembering 9/11, or blaming atheists, lesbians, and Ted Kennedy.

All that being said, I suspect that when we return to the polls to vote the bums out, we'll manage to replace them with an equally reprehensible group, and this based more than anything else on the letters following their names. Yes, we're really just that stupid. Go USA!

Remember, people HATE Congress, but not their own Congressmen. Their own members of Congress aren't the problem.
