Title: First CD you ever purchased?
Post by: spacey on February 08, 2008, 09:14:48 PM
No set up necessary.

1988- after 18ish months of determination, I finally saved up enough to buy a CD player. IIRC, I paid about $300 for a "boom box" style CD player at Silo (it had detachable speakers though, bitches), and walked next door to Raspberry Records to buy some stuff to stick in it. Bought The Smiths, The Queen is Dead and The Beatles, Rubber Soul.

You?

Geez, who remembers this *feces*?  It's just stuff, people.

(I think mine may have been Peter Gabriel -- So.  But don't quote me.)

Not really sure.  The first stuff I remember listening to on a cd player would be my dad's cds.  Dire Straights and The Beatles but I didn't buy those.

First cds I remember owning, probably Green Day Dookie or Nirvana Nevermind.

45 - Jimmy Osmond - I'll be your long-haired lover from Liverpool  [sm_anon]

33 - Billy Joel - The Stranger

8-Track - Grease Soundtrack (one and only 8-track; cassettes came out 15 minutes later)

CD - The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

I'm not sure if it's weird to remember this stuff or weird to forget it.   ;)

Didn't even own a CD player at the time. I borrowed a friend's player to make a mix tape. :D

Since I can't remember I'll take 'weird to remember'.  :P

It's gonna have to be my first 3 'cause I purchased them at the same time.  You Are God, O Love Divine, and Weep No More.

Haven't ever bought a CD. :o :)

Me neither.  If I want a CD, I ask my wife to pick it up.

Now vinyl, that's another story.

Thanks for the thread. I busted out that CD after posting and...... it's still *goshdarn* awesome.

I made my ten year old listen with me. She thought it was weird.

It holds up very well after so many years. Easily their best work. Groundbreaking and well ahead of its time. *goshdarn* love it.

No argument here. Of the late 80's disks I bought, it's one of the few I still listen to. Although I did have this in today (speaking of aging well, imo):
