He didn't tell anybody on the club he was retiring. Just got in his car and started driving to Orlando. Apparently Chuck Armstrong had to call him and ask him where the *fudge* he was. I say sorta because after I introduced myself, extended my hand and said hello, he looked right past me while his throat muttered something unintelligible from deep behind a burnt out sawed off stogy that may very well have been arc-welded to his lips, for all I knew. I wouldn't characterize him as belligerent, but more like a standoffish prick. Sure, he didn't owe me, or my young son in tow, a thing. And it wasn't like I was demanding butt**** of him or a chance to sniff his jockstrap
At the same time, I was spending top dolla that day, in part, because a chance to rub elbows with the celebrities sort of sweetened the pot and made the otherwise stale charity scramble outing format seem a bit more tolerable. And guys like KG Sr were there to get a free round of golf on one of the nicest courses in town for only one good reason---to grease the skids of cash flow to the charity. I mean, if you are dropping a car-load of Franklins on some high-priced *trollop*, you don't really give a *feces* if she has a good time, but you damn well expect her to act like it. I'm just saying that ever since I've wondered if that apple ever rolled far from the tree. Having said this, KG Sr probably wasn't nearly as bad as the *bunghole* puffy-haired TV sports celebrity who 'led' our 4-some only to abandon us after 9 holes. I don't even remember his name but know for A FACT he's never been on TV since. Karma bit him hard, or something. Whatev. I'm guessing Junior was butthurt because Wakawaka told him he probably wasn't going to play him much any more. |
