so the last few years the fields have started growing almost exponentially.  it would be easy to extrapolate something like 40-50k in the field around 2010.  with current buyins, that would be a total purse on the order of $500M.   -- with the winners total share shrinking dramatically....

Not with Harrahs involved. There is no way the event can continue to grow and remain there. They (the new management) are clueless as to how to run this thing. And I'm not talking about the main event either. The things I saw at the events running the last few days were mind boggling. Lines of paid-up entrants that snaked through the building. Many entrants had no chance of making it to their table in time for the cards being in the air due to waiting times.

You won't hear Norman Chad commenting on it but its been a real mess.

I've heard talk of increasing the buy in significantly (to like $50,000), just to get rid of all the wannabes.  Because quite honestly they can't sustain this kind of growth, unless they want to turn it into a 2 or 3 week tourney.
