I didn't see a reference to an "oil rich nation" in the article. Certainly, the only countries to qualify as "oil rich" in that region of the world are Indonesia and Malaysia. Not to say that Myanmar doesn't have any oil. It's just not being refined and exported.

no, they aren't producing much right now-  true.
they have unknown real reserves- true
china and india have recently signed big contracts with them for future petro/ng- true
china and india doing the above because they bet the unknown reserves are bigger than projected-  most likely...
usa not happy with china and india accelerating demand for petroleum/ng- true.

Looks like shrub is asking the leaders of the regime to please stop killing nonviolent protesters.  And he is imposing economic sanctions against them while asking China to help bring a peaceful transition to democracy. ::)  That will show them.
