I've been puzzling over why Santorum can't get any traction with the fundies, and I think I have it: He's not angry enough, and he doesn't hate unions and dark colored people enough. Those are some SERIOUSLY pissed off white people, and Newt is playing them like a violin.

I think Newt can pull this off, even with the handicap off missing the ballot in Virginia and Missouri.

They just want somebody to win who they think will say to Allahbama's face in a debate what they are thinking in their feverish brains.

You might be right at that.

The $64.00 question:

Are they even under the illusion that this is a winning strategy in November?

They don't care.  The end game for them isn't politics, but the sport of the debate.

Think in terms of each one of these debates as a Friday night WWE battle royale on cable. Or MMA. Or whatev.
