Marge:  "It's a Sacajawea dollar.  See?  You can't take it to the bank, and they'll exchange it for a real dollar!"

I heard we were going to switch at some point to the "Amero".

It's about time you yanks catch up with the rest of the world when it comes to money!!!! ;D ;D

You have to admit your notes are pretty terrible, and they all look the same.
Get with flow, and get some $1 & $2 coins!!!!!! ;D

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is a $1 coin...

I'd rather notes anyday, those churchies tend to weigh down your manbag after awhile.. ;)

All of my money is theoretical. Credits and debits. Numbers on a spreadsheet. I couldn't tell you the last time I actually saw any of it in person.

There's something awkward about trying to slip your Sacagawea to the stripper.

Ask Blader.

Oh, I'm guessing there's some potential there, particulularly in Georgia and WV where it's not just topless. Not that I've ever been in such an establishment, of course...

 ;D

You need to think of it more mechanically.  They're actually quite compatible.

Yes, but the court documents always list them as patients.  Whatever.

WTH?  There was a George Washington dollar coin?  There was a Thomas Jefferson dollar coin?  The Sac-a-whatever is still in circulation?!?

Has anybody actually SEEN any of these coins, other than the Sac?

When I was a kid I had a drawer full of Eisenhower $1 coins, and I have vague recollection of the Susan B. Anthony. Other than that, no.

$1 coins are a PITA. Hell, $1 notes are a PITA. My biggest question: why do they still mint pennies? Can we not round everything up at the cash register to the nearest nickel and put the surplus into the educational system or something? I'd vote for it.

But I digress.

Interestingly enough, and at one time I was going to start a thread, I have been noticing more and more establishments rounding off when giving change. To the customers benefit.

I've always thrown pennies in the cup they typically have next to the register and I am in total agreement with abolishing the penny.

Having done zero research into the pros/cons of such a stand I have only my anecdotal experiences to base my opinion.

Way back, I saw a sign next to the penny cup that read:

Have a penny?  Give a penny.  Need a penny?  Get a job.

Our 1 & 2 cent coins are long gone.
Everything, is rounded up or down.

LOL.

I'm all for abolishing the penny.  I'm not unlike spacey, however, in almost all of my transactions are 1's, and 0's in cyberspace.  The last time I had more than 20 bucks in my pocket was from a casino win.
