Title: One more for a Hat-trick. ;)
Post by: Torpedo on July 08, 2008, 02:15:41 PM
Some of you might remember my thread I started back in May about me splitting an arrow (http://www.golfhos.com/forum/index.php/topic,8126.0.html), well yesterday I did it again. 8)

This time it was from 10 yards (first one was 18 yards) as I couldn't go back any farther since we had our tent gazebo set up in our yard. I was shooting 3 spot (2 arrows each in 3 bullseyes) so I wouldn't wreck my fletchings, (what happens when the groups get tight) well, I ended up saving my fletchings but having to buy 2 more arrows. ;D I still had 2 arrows left to shoot, I should have went for the double Robin Hood. 8)

Thanks Stroh. Nope, never really thought about it, would be fun though. Right now I'm not even the best shot in my family, Dad still beats me most of the time. :o ;D

When you can do it at 40 meters with traditional tackle, come talk to me.  I've only done it once.  But I have lots of witnesses.   ;D

for those that are not in the know, traditonal tackle means recurve or stick bow, wooden arrows, real feather fletching.  I use a hand carved Osage Orange stick bow at 61 lbs at 32"

Ah, the traditional archery debate. For those that don't know, that's the cast Vs forged debate of archery. ;) :D

Pics >>> witnesses. ;D ;) So bring out the pics. ;D

for those that are not in the know, traditonal tackle means recurve or stick bow, wooden arrows, real feather fletching.

If you look closely at the arrows, 2 of the 4 *are* real feather fletchings, that's all I've ever used (16 years) up until this last time I refletched my arrows. Now I go with vanes for my practice arrows since they are more durable. I still keep feathers on my hunting arrows though as they do fly a little truer.

I also shoot recurves, not as often though. And have shot off tons of nocks with them too. After Dad and I get a few deer with our compounds we might try with our recurves someday.

Cool. My compound is currently set at 63 pounds @ 29 inches. It's maxed out poundage wise for now, I could get more by swapping out the cams and replacing them with different ones, as I already swapped to the longest string available for my current cams. But 63 pounds slings them plenty good for hunting (minimum in MN is 30 pounds lowered from 40 so more women and kids can hunt). And shoot recurves of 56 and 45 pounds.
