Title: Dog 1, Darwin 0
Post by: twoiron on April 20, 2008, 02:25:49 PM
Monday April 21, 2008
A dog that ran off during a road-trip rest stop in the US made her way nearly 130 kilometres across Nevada's high desert and two mountain ranges to return home a week later. Moon, a Siberian husky, was reunited with her owner no worse for wear, except for stinking like a skunk.

[tj] replace "Moon, the Siberian Husky" with "Willy, a college friend of Fuzzy's" and a story comes to mind that is eerily similar. [/tj]

Down boys.

The details of my willy's college life are quite inconsequential. And I wish the previous sentence wasn't so factual.

Willy (last name Williams - we were good at creative nicknames) was a friend who enjoyed his adult beverages immensely. We had road-tripped to another college town to visit friends and he managed to leave a party in the middle of the night and make it 100 miles back home (hitchhiking mainly).  The next day we couldn't find him anywhere. Even called the police and hospital. Stupid 'effer.

Reminds me of the time I got left in Champaign, IL after a MSU-UofI football game (State won, Kirk Gibson caught a couple of TD passes).  I rode down with two brothers from my dorm floor.  I stayed with a high school buddy and made arrangements to meet them on Sunday for the trip home. They never showed and this was before cell phones, so I had no way to contact them.  Apparently they were passed out anyway.

Fortunately, my friend's parents came down that afternoon to bring him a suit (really ugly, IIRC) and gave me a ride to my patents in Chicago.  My parents had to give me their second car, so I had actually had a car until I went home for Thanksgiving.
