not being from the states...   but watching some games lately (and enjoying them more) and even getting a bit competitive in wanting to try pickem

so she can start learning to throw and catch (hopefully someday) a real one.


i was surprised how well it does actually  fly.  can get about  30-35 yards on a good throw out of it  ... and best of all,  no worries she'll hurt her fingers learning how to catch one.

I learned by throwing a rugby ball -- the "blades" of your American football, if you will.  Oversize, only vaguely an oblate spheroid, very unforgiving of mistakes.  It really lets you know when you're doing something wrong, which is great.

I do sometimes, when you promise to be nice.  But usually, you throw hard enough that, if I don't catch the ball, it'll leave a not-so-nice-sized bruise.

That's the fast way to learn how to catch it.

That's what I try telling people ... ;)

The only thing bad about that one, she'll experience throwing a tight spiral and if she ever picks up a real pigskin there's a world of difference.

Since the real pigskin is way to big for my hands, I can't see that happening any time soon. There's no way on earth to hold a nfl legal football correctly with my hands.

I really think the two-handed overhead pass will migrate from basketball to football.  You'll be ahead of the curve.

That's for sure. 

If you place your hands like described...throwing to hard is not an issue.

But it is when I miss!  Especially if it happens to be on one of his rare wild throws.  That's a double ouch.  (Please note: I did not say double smite, Kev!)
