Klinsmann was never going to happen once he insisted he had to have control over the team's sponsors.  I think he would have been a great fit here but he's not Gus Hiddink.  I think you have to have more than one good run on your home soil to earn that kind of clout and probably too much to ask for no matter who you are.

Speaking of Hiddink...  maybe next time.  Assuming U.S. Soccer doesn't wait until the cupboard is bare - again. ;)

That also means no American coach has ever led a team to a WC championship.
