Title: Wow, I think I almost just got in a fight
Post by: Aske on April 03, 2008, 09:01:31 AM
With a rude little twerp.

Ahead of me in line in the 'break room'. Starts up his lunch in the microwave and  leaves his food in the microwave while it cooks. I watch the clock, no big deal.  Microwave winds down, starts beeping.  I start my nice guy 'minute grace period'.  He walks past about the 30 second mark (microwave still beeping) with his water boiler towards the water fountain. Looks in at me and the microwave, and can obviously hear it beeping. Keeps right on going.  'grace period expires' ...  He storms in just as I'm taking his stuff out and starting mine up, gives me the evil eye,  and walks out uttering '*bunghole*' under his breath.

(and I'm generally the nice guy who is known to step BACK in line when i have a 5-6 minute thing and people have little 1 minute, 90 second type items)

Why would he be upset that you removed his food unless you intended to spit in it?

That's what I don't understand.  If the line had been 10 people and he was 5 minutes late for his food does he really think nobody would have yanked it?.  I guess it was the "why couldn't you just wait 5 more seconds"  or something, I really don't know.

How old is this dude??

Obvisously not old enough to have learnt about "Lunchroom Microwave Etiquette":

1 If you're heating food in the microwave, you wait till it's done.

2 Apply rule 1 unless you need to heat anything longer than 5 minutes, in which case you should go buy a sandwich you cheap *feces*.

3 Frozen meals and dinners for one, have no place in a lunchroom. This isn't your own personal kitchen, nor is it some kind of soup kitchen.

4 If you put something in the microwave and you walk away, don't expect it to still be in there if it's done before you get back, and don't give me any grief about it either you selfish prick, next time I might just spit in it.

5 Under no circumstances are the following foods to be re-heated in the microwave:

   * Indian food
   * Asian food
   * Mexican food
   * or any other food that is likely to cause an evacuation of the immediate area due to it's smell, that's why we have things called restaurants.

Thank you have a nice day.

What does Any of this have to do with Me?  This doesn't help me scroll any faster.

Aske, FWIW, I'm with you.  I'm a huge stickler on lunchroom/breakroom etiquette.  I would have laid that *fudge*er out, or at least said "Dude....What the *fudge*?"  Cook your *feces*, and be mindful that others are trying/wanting to do the same.  Assclown.   I got so fed up at work with people deciding that the entire building was done drinking coffee at 11am (by turning th effing pot off) I finally posted a note.

Is it cool if I 'reheat' this?

\m/
(well, except that I don't like coffee)

2i- i pretty much agree with all that (especially the cross-contaminating smell stuff!), although when i do have a frozen dinner i will usually take it and cook it either 30-45 minutes before or after the usual 'crowd time'  ... i've only ever once (in 2 years..) ran into someone else wanting to use it and being inconvenienced at the same time.   i also let it start thawing in the morning which cuts at least 1 minute off the cook time.

I'm the only one using the break room around here these days.  8)  No assclowns to deal with. Present company excluded of course.

I'm with ya Dr. In my previous employ if you weren't around you had like 10 seconds before someone removed your food for you.
