The real story is that the Democrats grew a spine.

A Democratic leadership source says that White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten has been told that
Democratic votes will not be there if McCain votes no -- that there is no deal if McCain doesn't go along.

No spine. Just politics as usual especially with the election looming. On both sides of the aisle.

I've got the P&R filter on 'hide' and I may have missed something so forgive me. Is McCain voting no on socializing losses now a bad thing?  [sm_devil]

The Republican presidential candidate has suggested the original proposal lacks sufficient oversight, and he has said whatever plan emerges should protect family savings, homes, and student loans, and should eliminate obscene CEO compensation packages. McCain said this week that any company that receives government aid should not be compensated more than $400,000 -- the highest-paid government employee.

So to somehow, for the Democrats to say that their vote is going to be gauged on my vote frankly doesn't do them a great deal of credit.

Agreed.

If the Dems had a spine they wouldn't give a *feces* what McCain does, they would do what is right. And I happen to be very impressed they've put the brakes on to, at the very least, make it look like they want more specifics before handing over 700B. I've been pretty clear with my disdain for handing out money to every entity/individual under the sun who has made stupid decisions and failed.

I hope the debate for this bailout continues and an good, fair plan can be implemented.  ::) [sm_laughing] Yeah right...... :sad3:

In the same way a blind 'tard driving a school bus is dangerous.
