Title: That's "Your Eminence" If you Please
Post by: spacey on February 16, 2007, 08:52:26 PM
So my little brother is getting married and he thought it might be kind of cool if I performed the ceremony (note: he hasn't cleared this with his fiance, so it's not likely to happen, but still...). So this evening I became an ordained minister of the Church of Spiritual Humanism. I am now legally allowed to perform marriage ceremonies, funerals, etc.

You may now refer to me as "your eminence." I will also accept "your holiness," or in more casual conversations, "padre" will be fine.

Go in peace my children.

Heathen...I've been ordained  here (http://www.ulc.org) for about 3 years.  I've to do anything with it as yet, I am still waiting for my calling.

Are same-**** marriages legal in Utah?

I am intrigued by the "Ministry in a Box" offering.  Can you shed some holy light?

Also, does the Instant Absolution of Sin include "self abuse"?

Cut and Paste:
If you are serious about being a minister, it is strongly recommended (but not required) that you purchase the Ministry In A Box. It contains a beautiful credential, (mentioned above) as well as the essential book, Weddings, Funerals and Rites of Passage and many other items that will make your transition into the ministry an easy and informed one.

I'm assuming the transition into celebacy, was seamless, and, required little effort from Laura;  but how are you going to handle the temperance of spirits?

Being a minister is cool.

Does it pay as much as being a notary?

My flock relies on Gov.assistance, so the tithing's are meager.

Just out of curiosity, with this new super power of yours;  If you offer me a Coke, and a Snickers bar, should I be nervous?

I'd be even more curious to see if he can perform exorcisms now.

We're a very progressive congregation. Imbibing, while not required, is encouraged. Celibacy is also optional, but not that hard to practice now that the good reverend's wife is no longer on birth control.
