Serious question:

Why do you think other peoples hard work should be made available to you for free without permission?

Like I said, I keep trying to come down on the 'Correct' side of these issues, and have an increasingly hard time doing so.

I don't

but dos attacks aren't the answer especially against shared hosting sites iirc

If the site exists for the sole purpose of evading copyright law,  I say the gloves can come off.

That's not what shared hosting means

Maybe one of our it gurus can chime in if I'm right or wrong though whether dos takes down everyone on a shared box since I can't recall for certain

I will admit to:

A) Not having RTFA until after my initial response, and

B) Not being overly familiar with the technology involved.

My thinking is this:

You have a server farm , you run 4 or 5 of these sites that have similar types of functions, and somebody shuts your ass down after sending multiple infringement notices.

I take your point that small users on these farms that aren't directly connected to the wrongdoing are harmed, but maybe some due diligence on their part is in order.
