Title: Going under the knife again tomorrow
Post by: birdymaker on September 03, 2009, 11:44:56 AM
:-\ Hopefully for the last time. Tore the "tennis elbow" tendon in the accident. After almost 2 years of constant shots and bouts of physical therapy (4 times) I demanded a second opinion from my doc's senior partner who immediately scheduled me for surgery.

My doctor says the surgery is not a good one, according to him the success rate is as follows; 50% cured, 25% stay the same, 25% end up worse.

His partner says in his experience; 50% cured, 25% get "some relief", and the other 25% stay the same. I personally know 3 people this guy has done the surgery on and all have been successful.

The part that bothered me most about the whole deal was when I asked to see his partner for a second opinion, he immediately said he would do the surgery.  ::) To which I replied, no offense but why would I want you doing the surgery when you have been telling me for a year that it doesn't work? He had no response other than to say he would setup me seeing the other guy.

So anyhow, my arm will be in a cast for a week and then in an immobilizing splint for 3 weeks.  :'(
