Industry officials fear that a 70 percent finding by the FCC could ultimately be used by Martin to justify even more far-reaching regulations, such as imposing restrictions on consolidation in the industry or forcing operators to offer channels ala carte.

Don't know about the rest of it, but ala carte would get my vote. Hate having to pay for all the other crap just to get the package that incudes FSC.

Many believe that its all part of Martin's (whos an eejit btw) desire to get ala carte programming.  He's trying to strong arm them into it.  Martin (FCC) is an idiot.

After already allowing ma bell to practically re-assemble, he wants to prevent the cable companies from anything that looks like the same.  Further proof he's in the telco's pockets (which I believed before all this).

Ala carte sounds good, but would be a cluster f**k.  Not to mention the cable-channel contracts that guarantee certain channels are in a certain tier of programming.  Its just not practical right now - and by the time it is, TV programming will have a whole different look (which is also why I think vsat operators are at a disadvantage long term).

The FCC is at&t's bitch right now  [sm_cussing]
