Let's have your three favorite songs.  Not by genre, not four or five, not bands v. soloists, just give me up to three favorite songs in no specific order.

Children of the Sun is a great tune but I thought only a dozen people had ever heard it.  I burned it to a party CD once and zero of about 40 people at the party knew it.

UB--He's a very recent fave.

I came to know of him rather obliquely, while out on chautauqua a few months ago, during a coffee bar chat with some friends.  The question turned to, "Who is the most famous guy you've ever coded?" and this ER doc from Sydney who was with us, a friend of a friend, told the story of how he was involved in the final treatment of one Billy Thorpe.

After a collective, "Who?" he told the story of a group that could have just as easily been the Beatles, or the Stones, or Zepplin, if they only had their *feces* together and then someone managed to find the cut on his laptop, and I got to thinking, like the ****-obsessed Yossarian in Catch-22, lamenting all the great musicians I'll never hear because I never heard of them.

Sweet Child O' Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDeGbMr1I1E)  Probably my favorite song of all time. Why?  I don't know.  The song itself......For me.....One of the best guitar intros, and solos evar.  To my ear...cool.  Everyone knows it.  Like it or not.  Revolutionary?  Meh......   Prolific?  I think, maybe.  It may have sparked a genre of metal "ballads".  I don't think it was intended as such, but it did bring "hair metal" into the mainstream.   Funny thing is, it's 20 years old. 


The Long Run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpIsuH2aqLM)  I almost started a thread similar to this, asking for just one band.  For me, based on overall content, listen-ability, enjoyment, etc.  For me it would be the Eagles.  I grew up in Florida in the 70's.  I listened to them a lot.  I always go back to this song, as an anthem to my(our) life.

Once again, I grew up in the seventies.  I was in the theater to watch Grease when this preview came on.........I'll never forget it.  It was a completely different time. This was huge.  Like it or not, it is Americana.  Go to a wedding reception that you don't hear it played.  It's an icon.

Best song on very good album. Of course, it falls just short of being great album as it couldn't hold a candle to Hotel California. :D
