The marijuana plants started sprouting at Abashiri Prison on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido about a year ago, said prison official Takeshi Okamura. Wonder if they ever heard of Round-Up.I'd guess that Japan allows the growing of hemp for the fiber, which is used in rope and all sorts of other things, so it's not completely out of the question....
