Title: Tivo knowing stuff type guys.. Post by: twoiron on July 30, 2008, 03:34:20 PM Tivo is being released here.
Just wondering those of you who have tivo or know someone who has it: is it any good?, what have been the main issues? is it worth getting one of these units instead of any other PVR type device. Cheers Title: Re: Tivo knowing stuff type guys.. Post by: stroh on July 30, 2008, 05:37:41 PM Maybe other than some HD implications, I can't see any reason to pay a monthly fee to do the same thing you can with a unit you can own. Tivo had a good run, but My guess is the corner of the market they held hostage has been liberated.
I'm sure other more learned than I can break it down for you. Since Tivo is on it's way to you guys, DVDs can't be far behind! Wait 'til you see those sumbitches! Cheers. Post by: Spartan on July 31, 2008, 06:45:09 AM I have Tivo and I love it. My shows get recorded even when the network moves them around. I can schedule a recording from my work if need be. If there is room on the drive, it records show it thinks I might like. It has live365.com on it so I can listen to internet radio through my home entertainment system. Be able to stop and back up a live show is great. I find myself wanting to do that when I'm watching a TV that doesn't have Tivo.
When I got mine, they were offering a lifetime (of the recorder) subscription for $300. I did that so I don't have to pay a monthly fee. |
