Title: Here's my theater Post by: Teed on December 14, 2006, 05:36:00 PM t's functional at this point, but still work to be done.
Watching the game now in HD is awesome on 106" screen. Still left to do: -Hide speaker wire in walls -Figure out why sub is not working over RG6 cable. Probably my connector/crimping technique -audio test w/speakers -get new mount for projector (don't like the current one) -repaint room Waiting on theater seats (back ordered) >:( Going to buy new front speakers and center channel Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: Aske on December 14, 2006, 05:37:26 PM looks good, except for not being optoma
Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: Teed on December 14, 2006, 05:41:07 PM looks good, except for not being optoma thx!don't remind me. However, pretty satisfied at this point. I'm sure I'll get upgradeitis in 6-9 months. Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: stroh on December 14, 2006, 05:44:40 PM [sm_headbang] [sm_thumbsup]

What are you going to do to hide the speaker wire? What kind of theater seats did you order? Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: Teed on December 15, 2006, 05:05:12 AM Awesome! Looks great! What are you going to do to hide the speaker wire? What kind of theater seats did you order? I'm going to fish them into the wall and use speaker jacks behind the speaker then repatch and repaint the old hole or just put up face plates over the hole and paint them the same color as the wall. I ordered some Berklines http://www.berkline.com/proPageTheater.asp?cat=&model=090 (http://www.berkline.com/proPageTheater.asp?cat=&model=090) Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: Aske on December 15, 2006, 07:07:39 AM you know what you're doing with the audio gear side?
if not, i can help you out. However, I'm not an audiophile like you and I'll definitely call on you for assistance. Here's a question for you, would I notice the difference between the two: - an optical audio connection from A/V receiver to CD or Sat box - normal l/r audio cable from A/V receiver to CD or Sat box Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: stroh on December 15, 2006, 09:04:10 AM It's red to red, black to black, etc. [sm_devil]

Here's a question for you, would I notice the difference between the two: - an optical audio connection from A/V receiver to CD or Sat box - normal l/r audio cable from A/V receiver to CD or Sat box well first of all, you should get directionality correct the cable goes from the CD/Sat box/etc TO the receiver. and there are pricy directional analog (RCA type) cables (which help diminish the undesired noise/interference from the receiver), and there are optical audio (TOSLINK Type) cables of vastly different quality (bandwidth, loss over length, etc, shielding, etc) Title: Re: Here's my theater Post by: Aske on December 15, 2006, 10:08:41 AM also, judging by the shape of your room, you're going to need some very well chosen/placed speakers :)

I'd love to get seating like that but the wife probably wouldn't allow it. LMAO at the ButtKicker® option for those seats: Quote Unlike a subwoofer––which can be heard and felt throughout a home––The ButtKicker® makes no audible sound, and its vibrations are contained within the chair it’s mounted in. The ButtKicker® allows you to FEEL powerful bass without excessive volume. Which means you’ll experience realistic special effects and concert quality music without waking the kids or disturbing the neighbors. Technically, The ButtKicker® is a “low frequency transducer” with a 3.25 lb piston that responds powerfully and quickly to audio signals. When powered by an amplifier, The ButtKicker® produces vibrations that are transferred directly to your chair. And with only one moving part and a thermal protection switch, The ButtKicker® is maintenance free and virtually indestructible.
