Title: MO screws the pooch (telco/'net geek stuff)
Post by: hobbit on November 07, 2007, 11:11:17 PM
Even after the FCC ruled, and even the Missouri Senate was about to rule, that VoIP service was not subject to taxes - the Missouri Public Service Commission decided otherwise.

Even long after SBC moved its operation to Texas, the local MO lobby is apparently still alive and kicking.  Pisses me off - has nothing to so with technology or how the service is classified, its all about old money.  Old money that will not create new business or markets, only protect their monopoly.

I'm sure few share my angst - just venting I guess.

We have a MO lobby too.  They're more into protecting us from the sight of liquor bottles but it's very angsty just the same.

Raise up!!!  Scour the Shire!!!

Unfortunately, while the Missouri Senate proposed legislation similar to New Jersey’s to prevent the Missouri PSC from regulating VoIP, the Senate adjourned before completing work on the bill.
