You can use a golf club for all kinds of non-golfy purposes -- walking stick, fishing rod, club, to name three. And now we can add to that list -- firestarter.

Over the weekend, a golfer's routine swing in the rough at the Shady Canyon Golf Course in Irvine, Calif., struck a rock. Not so different from the way you play, right? Only this time, the impact caused a spark, and the spark set off a blaze that eventually covered 25 acres, according to the Steven Buck, General Manager of Shady Canyon Golf Course, and required the efforts of 150 Orange County firefighters, writes the Associated Press.

I've seen titanium clubheads cause sparks when they hit the ground, but the ground would have to be dry as *feces* for it to go up in flames due to such sparks.

While I'm convinced those goofy Mythbuster dudes would prove this explanation "plausible", the more likely real world scenario would include a match, a cigar/ette, and putting one or both of the aforementioned items on the ground whilst puring a 5-iron.

A:  It's true.

B:  He stepped up to hit his shot (and like I do, pulled his heater out of his mouth and tossed it on the ground)  If he hits a peach of a shot, he tugs the brim of his cap, turns and finds what's left of his heater, picks it up, puffs it and strolls to the green.  If he hits a piece of *feces*, he slams his club and starts walking.  Screw the fag, I got plenty more.  Fire ensues.

C:  He was using one of these:
