i just got an (entry level) dslr, a canon d60 6.3 mega pixel. it isn't new, but it's in real nice shape. i only have two lenses so far a sigma 2.8 50mm macro lens and a cannon 1.8 50mm. i have a sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG  telephoto lens on the way.

i also have a Panasonic - Lumix 7.2MP point and shoot which will hold it's own. just nowhere near as versatile as a dslr.

so as you can see, I'm pretty "well equipped". ;)

Are the lenses EF or EF-S (especially that Canon 50/1.8)?

The macro lens also should prove surprisingly useful for portraits.  8)

ef. that was my first mistake. i bought an ef-s lens. ::)  now that i am learning more about it, the ef lenses are more plentiful.
