While I understand your thought behind I this I have to disagree. I think if you asked any of them other there if they think they were senseless you would probably get a different response. To say that the death of soldiers in the line of duty is senseless is incorrect. Tragic, yes.

But again I understand where your statement was coming from so don't take it as a flame.

I didn't say that. No one like hearing of a soldiers death. But no death "in the line of duty" is senseless. Whether the war is justified or not, that lies on the politicians who made that decision. But IMO to say that the death of a person who was doing their job was senseless, even if the task was unnecessary, is not a correct statement, saying it is tragic is more appropriate.

Whether I think the war was justified or not does not change how I feel about soldiers' deaths. I volunteered and would have given my life for this country (and almost did) in a war that some thought was unjustified. Even if not at war I still would have given my life for this country.

Like I said I know where your statement comes from but I will never say that the death of a soldier in the line of duty was senseless. And for the record the I feel the war should have been over years ago.

o k make it senseless for lack of a better term. maybe criminal is the term i was looking for. i too am former military.  :)
