Title: the greatest thing since slice bread
Post by: Aske on May 08, 2008, 02:25:47 PM
http://www.unclebens.com/rice/ready-rice-spanish-style-rice.aspx

these things rule.  sure, i dont want to know what toxic chemical crap is in them.... but 90 seconds, no added water, 2 perfect serving sizes (no potentially wasted leftovers), no messy pots to clean,  and a shiat-ton of flavor combinations.   sadly they cost $3.29 at our local grocery monopoly whereas they're like $1.69 at mutantmart.

Who decided sliced bread was so great?

We've been getting them for a couple of years now. You're right - slicker than *feces* and perfect every time.

Of course I still like making sticky rice in my steamer from time to time.

I willingly wrote that last sentence fully understanding the future use implications.

Spanish is the bomb.

Kids like original long grain with a bit of butter so I make that a lot. I haven't tried the wild long grain yet so I'm going to have to pick that up.

I'm with campy.  Never has Zatarains been wasted in my house.  And I make my wife clean up the pots.

LOL

I'm all about the Unky Ben's rice in a bag.  Stumbled across it one day lookin' for something I could heat up and eat at work.

Truly is teh shizzle!

But I can't do 'mater sauce on rice.  That dog just won't hunt.

The wife has the same problem with eggs, sort of. She thinks putting salsa on an omelette is gross, but then again she has no problem putting ketchup on scrambled eggs, so I guess it's not the same thing.

Shutting up and going away...

Russell hates rice, so we rarely eat it.

Sometimes if I make a curry, I cook rice, so then he has to eat it or go hungry. ;D

Spanish rice is the shiznit and the uncle bens is good.  I haven't met a rice I didn't like though.

I have the opposite problem with eggs.  I like salsa in my breakfast burrito but think ketchup on scrambled eggs is an abomination.
