Title: Re: add a real-time chat? Post by: Aske on October 01, 2006, 04:38:11 PM ok, it won't connect for me (through the forum link directly)
is there info on how to connect via chatzilla? Title: Re: add a real-time chat? Post by: admin on October 01, 2006, 04:52:32 PM Try irc.everywherechat.com Port: 6667
I just installed the Integrated Chat from the SMF website, so I'm not sure of the specifics. The direct link via a browser is: http://irc.everywherechat.com:8000/?room=GolfHos From their FAQ: Q: How do I connect using mIRC? A: To connect using mIRC or another IRC client, simply use your client's options to connect to irc.everywherechat.com on port 6667 or 7000. We also have a copy of mIRC available for you that is already configured for EveryWhereChat.com. You can download it here Previous Top Next Q: Do you support the use of IRC clients? A: EveryWhereChat does support IRC clients. We have tested the following clients. mIRC ircZ pIRCh Miranda IM (http://www.miranda-im.org) Trillian ircle Server: irc.everywherechat.com Port: 6667 Title: Re: add a real-time chat? 8) Title: Re: add a real-time chat? Post by: Salamander on October 02, 2006, 01:54:04 PM The problem with this is that if someone in the IRC world already has your nickname, you can't have it too.
Title: Re: add a real-time chat? Post by: dystopia on October 02, 2006, 02:13:54 PM Ah, I didn't realize how that worked. There was an option to automatically append a suffix to your GolfHos username to get around the unique nickname issue.
The default config of the chat used "_abbrv" or something like that, so my IRC name would be "dystopia_abbrv". Would you prefer if I enable the automatic suffix? Any ideas for a suffix? I'm not sure that "dystopia_ho, Salamander_ho, stroh_ho" is the best idea. Another option might be to find a chat option that avoids IRC and is isolated, but some people might want to use their own IRC client. Or I could just tweak it to not carryover the GolfHos username automatically and make people login manually. Title: Re: add a real-time chat? Post by: Salamander on October 02, 2006, 07:04:36 PM how about user_gh? ;)
