FWIW, I'd be kind of annoyed if the manufacturer preserved every last detail of the packaging for a product I'd already vetted, but quietly started putting less into that package.  Shoppers make buying decisions at least partly based on an assessment of quality and value.  Huge PITA to have to do that for every product, every shopping trip.  (I notice when the price changes, because it's right there in BIG numbers.)
