They can't seem to find competitors who aren't jacked up on one thing or another. Then you have some very squirrelly lab work involved. The French seem to have a "we'll get you" attitude. Top it all off with *8==>* Pound and his antics. Cycling looks to be the most screwed up sport on the planet. Am I wrong?

I was just thinking today about how screwed up pro sports are these days (with nba/nfl/mlb commissioners all dealing with various crises right now), but I agree that Cycling is definitely the most screwed up sport right now. Unfortunately, it takes a way from the achievements of Armstrong.(cheating allegations not withstanding.) Of all the sports at least cycling is testing and enforcing penalties even against the "big" names.
Now, one can argue about testing methods but they seem serious about cleaning up the sport. Unfortunately, the participants don't seem to be as serious. LOL. I'm sure the term has been used before but I haven't heard it. Has to make the governing bodies of cycling cringe. Ouch. Same with soccer. I love playing it, but I can't watch it very long unless I'm there in person (and preferably know someone on the team).

But wWhen a French* rider or two is actually dismissed from the TdF, I'll begin to entertain the notion that this is not a conspiracy by the French-based drug testing to wean out the better competitors from other nations to elevate a Frenchman as winner of the TdF. *Sorry, Belgians are are unsuitable substitutes. |
