Title: Rough day at work
Post by: Spanky on January 24, 2007, 02:57:00 PM
I am still here but the bad stuff is done, for now. One of my guys really screwed up the other day and I had to be the hard ass today. Put the hammer down. Guy is lucky to still have a job but he is my best technician.

We'll see if it sinks in.

Wish I could joke about it. Hence that thread. I was pissed this morning and am starting to get over it.

OK Stroh, that was funny.

No he did not do that. Now that I ma home I can say. He falsified data. In our field that is pretty bad. People have been terminated for that on the spot.

"Pretty bad"?  What's it take to be "really bad"?  I just like to know where the lines are drawn.

That could get someone fired on the spot. Breaking product, general screw ups get probation. Now dipping the pen, exposure, lighting a fire will get you a walk to the door.

But if you a just a general screwup that just does dumb things, you get 4 strikes.

Where I work, falsifying data gets you canned.  It turns out that downloading kiddie pröñ also gets you canned, if they catch you.  But gettting hummed by a lab tech in your car (parked out back) doesn't get you anything but maybe an STD.  (Those things all hypothetically happened before my time here, so I'm just going by the corroborated word of others.)

It further turns out that you can no longer leave your skin magazines in the men's room.  WTF?  They could at least put a sign in the john that says "Please don't leave skin mags in here.  Thanks."  It's not like they covered that point in orientation.

Next, they'll say I can't can't even have them in my office.

What I did Monday should have gotten me canned (kinda like breaking a cardinal rule), but I'm still working.  A little chastised, but still working.

Nikon or Sony?  Only asking because those are two brands my son uses (still and video).

Photlithography, not photograph. We put the image on a wafer to make electronic chips. We do have Canons and Nikons though that do that.
