Title: happy holidays to Aske and Sal
Post by: Aske on December 17, 2010, 11:26:52 PM
 [sm_shock]

Still need to get a screen for it though (http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5083721&csid=_21). Rocking about 126" on the light tan painted wall. Still looks amazing.

You pretty much have to use those projectors in a dungeon or only at night. Still, I hear the PQ is amazing.

nahhh, have it on now, living room, windows/drape shut in that room but rest of the ambient light from the place is backflooding.

looks fine.  not as great as night, but fine still.  will only be better with screen.  only have brightness set at 15/100

wow, what kind of viewing distance are you finding optimal so far?  I don't think we could pull something like that off.

Congrats, aske and sal!  If you are looking for screen suggestions, I have been very happy with my Carada Criterion series (106" ??).  It was suggested by my neighbor who introduced me to HT.  He is an engineer / project manager for CNN, very anal, and tried out a number of screens before deciding on Carada.  He felt you had to spend 3-4x the money before seeing noticeable improvements.  I believe it was about $750.

Enjoy!!

thanks, those look nice but are a bit out of our budget right now I think.  Especially at the size we want to go.

hmm, looks like I have a little bit of a curtain leak to fix. Still bright though at (20/100 setting) with sunny day , curtains drawn, and ambient light filling room from backside

well, screen arrive today, with a mounting flange bent.

Got it on the wall anyways, but have tried to order a replacement flange from manufacturer before sending it back to amazon as an exchange.

135" (well, about 132 viewable right now from tabletop setting, waited to install screen before mounting projector to ceiling-- tomorrows task
