Title: Things you can and can not take on an airplane Post by: Spanky on May 24, 2008, 08:06:19 AM Sitting the the hotel room I started reading one of those magazines they have that list local area stuff and there is an article about traveling. They listed stuff you can and cant take on planes and some of them I thought was funny.

I got hauled into the TSA office for carrying a torch lighter. I think I was put on the "keep an eye on this guy" list. The way they treat him, you'd think he's the only guy in the world running around with an artificial joint. TSA is a joke. Personally, I'd be happy to sacrifice some of my post-9/11 "safety" for a bit more convenience. Ah the old days when it took 15 seconds to get through security. Seriously, does anyone honestly not think that the days of hijacking an airplane with a box cutter are long gone?

Guess that means crochet hooks would probably be okay, too? I don't plan on flying somewhere anytime soon, but that's good to know. However, I wouldn't be able to bring my knife to cut the yarn, so that could be a bit of a problem. I suppose a cigar cutter could snip the thread fine, but I'd rather do without than have one of those things with me. Guess I'd just have to start a pattern that doesn't call for multiple colors or is a mile-a-minute pattern. Or maybe just bring a few books...

You can bring a small pair of scissors with the rounded ends, I think they are used for cutting babies fingernails. My wife crochets and brings them with her.
