Title: The Queens Will Not Only Go To The Super Bowl..
Post by: stroh on November 15, 2009, 07:55:19 AM
They win it.

In 1987 I left for Basic Training in September.  The Twins get to the World Series and win it.  I never saw an inning.

In 1991 I was discharged from the Army in September, but because of some court ordered restirictions, I wasn't allowed to leave the state until November 19th. >:(  The Twins got to and won arguably one of the best World Series' evar.

In 1998 The Queens were a shoe in for the Super Bowl.  They had a routine test against the Atlanta Falcons at home for the NFC Conference Championship.  I watched that game at my Brother-In-Law's house.  They lost.  I'm not very good at math, but I know there is a connection.

In 2000 they lost 41 - donut to the Ney York Football Giants.  And that's all I got to say about that.

This year my beloved (soon to be 8 -1) Queens will roll through the remainder of the schedule, secure home field throughout the playoffs, beat the Ain'ts by a field goal in the 4th quarter, and on to Mission Miami where it will be a blowout over the Colts.

I will be watching it from Southern California.

I think it is.  Flying out tomorrow.  I suppose there is always a chance they could not offer me the job, or I discover they are such douchebags that I don't take it, but a quick glance at the checkbook pretty much seals it.

I'm extremely interested in the logistics of it. On the surface it seems like a very unworkable situation given the housing mess short of just walking away from you current house.

The logistics of it is also highest on my list of worries.

Got to head out the door, but I'll flesh it out more when I get home.

Sounds like a great deal stroh. There are points in life where you need to move beyond your comfort zone once in a while. This is a bigger move than most but it seems like you've been presented a pretty good opportunity.

I know this board isn't the place for sentiments like this and I'm FAR from saying everything is rosy but there are glimmers of hope out there. It might be a bumpy road for you and the family or a while but I bet it works out just fine.

Minneapolis-St. Paul area home prices rose 3.2 percent in August. It's the fourth straight month of improvement and second month in a row the Cities came out on top.

The Twin Cities area was one of the nation's warmer housing markets this summer as home prices rose faster here than in other metro areas, according to a closely watched housing index released Tuesday.

But market observers still warn that economic uncertainty could cause prices to start sinking again in a "double dip" scenario.

Minneapolis-St. Paul area home prices rose 3.2 percent from July to August, according to the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller national home price index, compared with a 1.2 percent average increase for the 20 cities tracked by the index. Only Cleveland failed to show an improvement in prices.

This is the fourth straight month of improvement for Minneapolis-St. Paul and the nation. It is also the second month in a row that the Twin Cities came out on top of the index; prices here rose 4.6 percent from June to July.

Oh yeah.....I hope you're right about the Vikes. I just fear another kick in the nuts end of the season coming. But I've followed these guys for 40 years now so I'm conditioned to it.

Good news for the Vikings

Bad news for the Coachella Valley Arabs though.
