That doesn't look like you're LYAO.

You lied to me through thread titles.

I don't think it is, actually. Tiger said a 10 handicap couldn't break 100 at Oakmont. GolfDigest has selected an 8 handicap player to play Torrey Pines.  ???

IMO, there's a big difference between 10 and 8, especially if he's an 8 who has played off 6 before.

Agreed.

I played Torrey Pines South in June.  I had the 'four holes with a pro' package.  My pro said the rough was as long that day as it is for the Buick but the fairways were wider.  The rough was indeed a bitch.  I can't imagine what these guys are in for assuming it's going to be longer/thicker for the US Open than it is for the Buick and the fairways narrowed down.  If they're not deadly straight or teh superb scramblers they're going to be in big trouble.

Then there's the greens...   [sm_disgust]

(Actually, not terrible but not great either.  I've played plenty of resort golf and a good few local courses with better greens.)

edit: Oh, and I played from the greens.  These guys are going to play from the tips.  That's 7607/143/78.1 v. 6542/133/72.5.  Granted, there's a huge difference between a 10 'capper and whatever I was at the time (probably about 20) but I couldn't come close to breaking 100 from the greens with wide fairways, slow greens and what should probably be considered manageable rough.
